    The New York Times Magazine is looking for an executive assistant to support the
    Editor-in-Chief.

    You will manage the Editor-in-Chief’s calendar; schedule meetings with staff,
    freelance contributors and external parties; manage correspondence on the
    Editor-in-Chief’s behalf; maintain ongoing projects and provide research
    assistance on a project-by-project basis. The executive assistant will also
    facilitate meals and events hosted by the Editor-in-Chief, and will provide
    standard administrative support such as booking travel, filing expenses, taking
    notes at meetings and the like.

    This position is based in New York with a hybrid schedule including three days
    per week in the office, though additional in-office days may be required
    depending on editors’ needs.

    Responsibilities

    * Manage the Editor-in-Chief’s calendar, schedule meetings on behalf of
    magazine or newsroom staff and also arrange meetings with outside
    contributors or contacts. The editorial assistant should be diplomatic and
    comfortable hosting guests.
    * Coordinate all travel and meeting arrangements. Process expense reports
    promptly.
    * Facilitate communication between the Editor-in-Chief and magazine staff,
    writers and other departments through The Times.
    * Help with tracking deadlines, editorial calendars and production schedules as
    they relate to work needed from the Editor-in-Chief.
    * Prepare meeting agendas, take notes and follow up on action items.
    * Help manage email correspondence ensuring that the Editor-in-Chief responds
    to queries and submissions promptly.
    * Conduct research and compile background materials for editorial planning or
    in advance of meetings and presentations.
    * Help with special projects, events and presentations.
    * Maintain a high degree of confidentiality on all matters.
    * Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic
    independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and
    help people understand the world.
    * You will report to the Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief.

    Basic Qualifications

    * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of professional experience.
    * 2+ years of experience in an editorial, administrative or publishing role.
    * An interest in journalism, publishing or media, and a commitment to the
    mission of The New York Times.

    Preferred Qualifications

    * Degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
    * Familiarity with The New York Times Magazine.
    * Previous experience working in a newsroom or media environment.
    * Experience working in editorial content management systems.

    The hourly rate of base pay for this role is:

    $38.47 – $46.71 USD
