You may be simply browsing this website right now. But, close your eyes and try to read this text without looking at the screen. You may have thought that we were trying to be unfunny, but the truth is that around 45 million people in the world are blind and cannot see this or any other website. According to the World Health Organization, the total number of people with disabilities is more than one billion. That means approximately 15% of the world’s population may not be able to access your website if it is not designed to be web accessible. Web accessibility involves adapting your site to the needs of all people, regardless of their physical condition, and not just those who have perfect health.

Web accessibility is of utmost importance, and that’s why we invite you to our online meeting, “Beetroot Tech Forces: How to Do Web Accessibility Audit,” on May 17th at 19:00 (UTC+3).

Our main speaker, Maksym Kalashnykov, is a WordPress developer who takes care of the website of the tech company, Beetroot. He will use our website as an example to demonstrate how to conduct a web accessibility audit and make your site inclusive and convenient for everyone.

During the meeting, Maksym will cover the following topics:

  • What is web accessibility and why is it important?
  • Which sites can be considered accessible?
  • What assistive technologies exist for persons with disabilities, and why should developers know about them?
  • How to conduct a site audit from the point of view of inclusion and adapt it to current web accessibility requirements.

However, you shouldn’t expect too much theory, as Maksym Kalashnykov will mainly focus on practical demonstrations. Using the Beetroot website as an example, he will clearly show and explain how the audit is performed.

The event is free, and you can register by clicking on this link: career.beetroot.co/…-web-accessibility-audit
